119 Citizen Lifeguard Corps Launched... Serving as Waterfront Safety Guardians
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Gwangsan Fire Station (Chief Im Jongbok) announced on the 21st that it held the launch ceremony of the 119 Citizen Water Rescue Team to prevent water play safety accidents during the summer season on the 18th.
The Gwangsan 119 Citizen Water Rescue Team consists of 60 members. Starting next month, for two months, on weekends and peak seasons, they will perform the role of waterfront safety guardians by patrolling the watersides in pairs at Imgokgyo Bridge and Songsan Amusement Park.
After the launch ceremony, training on the use of water rescue equipment and first aid was conducted to enhance professionalism.
