Homeplus Revamps Montblanc Bakery... "Enhancing Both Taste and Quality"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] Homeplus announced on the 21st that it will revamp Montblancier Bakery, riding on the strong sales of bread. The strategy is to strengthen the perception of Montblancier as a professional bakery that offers both taste and quality, driving growth.
According to Homeplus, from March to May this year, Montblancier Bakery's online and offline sales increased significantly compared to the same period last year, with frozen croissant dough up 267%, and macarons and scones up about 302%. Especially in online sales, frozen dough products rose 200%, cookies 174%, gifts 241%, and health breads 107%, with overall sales increasing by about 77%. This is analyzed as an effect of the spread of home baking and home cafe trends following the COVID-19 outbreak.
Since November 2008, Montblancier has operated a bakery factory directly managed in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province, adopting an in-house handmade production method where employees bake bread daily. To standardize quality, dough is manufactured at the Anseong factory and bread is baked at stores on the same day. Continuous efforts are being made to improve quality. The Montblancier Anseong factory has received the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) certification annually since 2009, producing bread in a clean and safe environment.
Homeplus has introduced a dedicated Montblancier section online to solidify its position as a professional bakery. Under the concept of "My Own Baker," it plans to share engaging stories about the virtual bakery. Various content such as recipe suggestions using Montblancier bread and introductions to this month's bread will also be presented.
