Seocho-gu, the Nation's First to Operate a 'Video Conference-Only' Digital Booth: Why?
Anyone in Need of Video Conference Space Can Use It for Free, Conveniently Reserved via Booking System... Leading Customized Smart Administration for the Contactless Era Due to COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seocho-gu (Mayor Eunhee Jo) has created and opened the Seocho Digital Booth, the nation's first 1-2 person video conference space available to all residents, in response to the rapidly increasing demand for non-face-to-face services such as video conferencing in the untact era.
Recently, due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, the demand for non-face-to-face video conferences such as online classes, telecommuting, and online interviews has continuously increased, but it is not easy to find a suitable independent space to participate in.
In particular, attending video conferences at home or in cafes can be inconvenient due to surrounding disturbances, and many people do not have well-equipped individual video conferencing systems.
The district installed the 'Seocho Digital Booth,' a 'video conference dedicated' space essential in this non-face-to-face era, on the 3rd floor of the Seocho-gu Yangjae Library, which is convenient for residents to use, providing customized smart services.
The district installed monitors, webcams (combined speaker and microphone), smartphone mirroring cables, etc., in the 'Seocho Digital Booth,' allowing video conferencing using personal devices (laptop or smartphone). It operates by reservation system so residents can use it at their desired time according to the video conference schedule.
Reservations can be made on-site at the 'Seocho Digital Booth' or through the Seocho-gu Office website.
Also, the booth applies an automatic door opening and closing system that allows users to open the door themselves by entering a password designated at the reservation time, making it convenient for both users and administrators to manage usage.
Additionally, disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizers are provided inside the booth to ensure hygienic use.
Meanwhile, to prevent one person from monopolizing the space and to provide services to more people, the usage time per person is limited to 2 hours per day.
The district plans to review locations that are convenient for residents and have demand after a pilot operation period and expand installation and operation accordingly.
