Baekdamsa Temple's Oseam, Housing the History of the Palman Daejanggyeong, Becomes a Notable Spot in Inje-gun
Inje-gun, Systematic Documentation and Preservation Project for Local Cultural Resources 추진
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Inje-gun, Gangwon Province, is promoting 'Oseam,' a branch temple of Baekdamsa known for its 'Fire, Law, Victory' three treasures, as a regional cultural asset.
Inje-gun announced on the 15th that "On the 16th, County Governor Choi Sang-gi, along with Kim Cheol-su, Director of Seoraksan National Park Office, and Shin Chun-beom, Director of KBS Chuncheon Broadcasting Station, will sign a business agreement for the project to highlight the cultural heritage sites in the Seoraksan area."
The county will secure resources for discovering historical and academic materials related to regional cultural heritage and for building video content, while Seoraksan National Park will support by providing materials in the cultural ecology field and handling access-related affairs.
Additionally, plans will be made to systematically record and preserve regional cultural resources through projects with local broadcasters for planning and production.
The documentary to be produced will cover the story of Namho Yulsa, who in 1864, the first year of King Gojong's reign in the late Joseon Dynasty, transported a complete set of the Tripitaka Koreana woodblocks from Haeinsa Temple in Hapcheon, Gyeongnam, to Oseam via sea and land routes, and built a two-story Daejangjeon hall to enshrine them.
Previously, in 2019, the county invested 1.35 billion won to establish a 34.2㎡ promotional center and auxiliary facilities at Oseam.
