A Man in His 30s Arrested for Secretly Filming Only Houses Where Women Live Alone
Statement in Police Investigation: "Completely Drunk... Don't Remember"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] A man in his 30s was arrested by the police for secretly filming inside a room where a woman lived alone through a window gap in a residential area of Seoul.
Seoul Yeongdeungpo Police Station announced on the 15th that they have booked and are investigating a man identified as A on charges of violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes (filming using a camera, etc.).
According to the police, A is suspected of wandering around a residential area in Daerim-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, around 11:30 p.m. on the 11th, and illegally filming the interior of a woman’s first-floor room visible through a window gap using his mobile phone.
The police arrested A on the 13th, two days later, after receiving a report from the victim who made eye contact with A while he was filming illegally, analyzing nearby closed-circuit television (CCTV), and conducting inquiries with residents.
During the police investigation, A reportedly stated that he was heavily intoxicated at the time of the crime and does not remember the details of the incident.
