[Austria (Vienna) Joint Press Corps] On the 14th (local time), President Moon Jae-in met with Wolfgang Sobotka, the 2nd Speaker of the Austrian Federal National Council, and said, "The Austrian Parliament is a cradle of solidarity and consensus, and the grand coalition and social partnership, which are characteristics of Austrian politics, reflect the spirit of agreement and inclusion." He added, "This provides important political and philosophical implications for many countries, including Korea."
President Moon evaluated, "When Speaker Sobotka was Minister of the Interior, he praised the preparations for the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics and expressed confidence in a safe Olympics, which helped the successful hosting of the Pyeongchang Olympics."
Speaker Sobotka said, "Korea and Austria have much in common in that both have experienced war and emphasize peace," and added, "Korea, a representative country of Asian democracy, serves as a link between Austria and Asia."
Speaker Sobotka also shared, "Korean-made pianos have good sound quality and maintain tuning for a long time, so many are equipped in Austrian music schools, and I drive a Korean car."
