Incheon City Supports Job Opportunities for Youth Leaving Care Facilities... Establishes 'Public-Private-Academic Governance'
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Incheon City is establishing a public-private-academic governance to support job opportunities for youths who must leave child protection facilities upon turning 18.
On the 14th, the city signed a business agreement with Inha University, the Incheon Child Welfare Association, and the Incheon Foster Care Support Center to support job opportunities for young people who are scheduled to leave or have left protection facilities.
The city made this agreement to help youths in protection facilities, who lack social experience and must overcome employment barriers without family or relatives' help, to independently plan their lives and succeed in finding employment.
According to the agreement, Inha University will provide employment information and interview techniques through professional consultants at the University Job Center, while Incheon City will oversee the project and focus on efficient administrative support and promotional activities.
The Child Welfare Association and the Foster Care Support Center will also cooperate with Incheon City and Inha University to encourage active participation of youths in protection facilities in various programs. Starting from the 22nd, they plan to meet youths through the "Visiting Employment Study" program.
