Gwangju Seo-gu Imposes 4.1 Billion KRW in Regular Automobile Tax
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 14th that it has imposed approximately 4.1 billion KRW in regular automobile tax for the first half of June.
The June regular automobile tax is imposed on the owner registered in the automobile registration ledger as of June 1, and for compact cars, cargo trucks, and passenger vans with an annual tax amount of 100,000 KRW or less, the full annual tax amount is imposed this month.
Vehicles for which the annual automobile tax was paid in January or March are excluded from this payment.
The total number of taxable cases for this regular tax is 45,621, and taxpayers can check the tax details via postal mail or electronic notification and must pay between the 16th and 30th of this month.
Payment methods include direct payment at all financial institutions nationwide, virtual account transfer without a tax notice (Gwangju Bank, NongHyup, Kookmin Bank, Shinhan Bank), local tax payment system Witax, the Korea Financial Telecommunications & Clearings Institute, and checking and paying local tax details at bank CD/ATM machines.
Additionally, taxpayers can conveniently pay local taxes using credit cards or virtual account transfers via the ARS service.
A Seo-gu official stated, “If taxpayers do not pay the automobile tax by the deadline, a 3% surcharge will be applied, and thereafter, property disadvantages such as vehicle seizure may occur, so we kindly ask that payments be made within the deadline.”
