Seong Jang-hyun, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said this while meeting residents during the two-month renovation project of the Wonhyo-ro 2-ga Village Rest Area (855㎡ at 65-25 Wonhyo-ro 2-ga, Yongsan-gu) from June to July.
This is part of the district’s 2021 investment project in the park and green space sector.
The construction includes the installation of two new shaded rest areas (pergolas), replacement of nine exercise facilities, installation of six LED park lights, elastic pavement under exercise equipment (131㎡), replacement of old floor pavement (290㎡), replanting shrubs in damaged tree areas, and installation of park information boards.
On the 4th, Mayor Seong visited the renovation site and held a meeting with residents to announce the construction and gather their opinions.
Yang Myung-duk, an advisor to the Wonhyo-ro 1-ga Residents’ Autonomy Committee, said, “Since the park is located in a residential area and has a high usage rate, the old facilities caused inconvenience. We are grateful that the construction started immediately reflecting residents’ requests.”
The Wonhyo-ro 2-ga Village Rest Area was established in 2009. Over time, the facilities became outdated. In particular, there were many complaints about mosquitoes and green algae in the stagnant water of the water feature.
Last year, the district received residents’ requests for facility improvements and proposed the renovation plan as a participatory budget agenda. The secured budget is 250 million KRW (including design fees). The water feature, which had many complaints, will be replaced with a green space.
This year, besides the Wonhyo-ro 2-ga Village Rest Area renovation project, the district plans to carry out 57 investment projects in the park and green space sector, including ▲green remodeling of the park management office ▲creation of smart parks using big data ▲maintenance of street rest areas in Sancheon-dong ▲repair and maintenance of the natural learning center in Ichon-dong.
