View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) will carry out a fire safety performance reinforcement support project targeting fire-vulnerable buildings until the end of next year.
The fire safety performance reinforcement support project is a program that provides subsidies for reinforcement construction of buildings requiring safety reinforcement, designed to protect residents from building fires and reduce the construction burden on building managers.
The targets are buildings of three stories or higher that use combustible exterior materials, lack sprinkler systems, and include facilities for vulnerable evacuees (medical facilities, child and elderly welfare facilities, community child centers, youth training centers) and multi-use establishments (goshiwon, bathhouses, postpartum care centers, academies).
Buildings confirmed for support must complete fire safety performance reinforcement construction by the end of next year according to the Building Management Act, and can receive up to 26 million KRW in support based on a construction cost of 40 million KRW.
The support project operates until the budget is exhausted, so it is recommended to apply within this year to receive the subsidy.
Managers (owners) of target buildings must carry out either exterior material replacement or sprinkler installation as mandatory construction, and if necessary, can add reinforcement methods such as outdoor evacuation stairs, downward evacuation exits, and fire doors depending on the building conditions.
Verification of mandatory fire safety performance reinforcement status and project applications can be made through the LH Building Management Support Center website, and inquiries related to the support project can be directed to the Jungnang-gu Building Safety Center.
Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi of Jungnang-gu said, “This fire safety performance reinforcement support project will be an opportunity to prevent large-scale casualties and protect the precious lives of residents,” adding, “We will continue to make efforts to protect residents’ safety through ongoing safety inspections and consultations.”
