The 18th Yeongdeungpo Dano Festival Held to Wish for Residents' Health and Well-being
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the morning of the 11th, Chaehyunil, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, conducted a ritual praying for the health and well-being of the residents at the ‘18th Yeongdeungpo Dano Festival’ held at Yeongdeungpo Park.
This year’s festival limited the number of attendees to under 99 to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and the schedule was composed solely of performances, completely excluding traditional seasonal customs experiences.
The festival consisted of ▲Dano ritual ▲Breaking the jar ▲Binarri (traditional Korean shamanistic chant) ▲Gayageum performance ▲Pungmul troupe and Bukcheong lion dance performers.

Mayor Chaehyunil stated, “Due to the ongoing spread of COVID-19, we had to significantly downscale the festival, but we will put all our efforts into quarantine activities and vaccination promotion so that next year on Dano Day, all residents can enjoy the festivities joyfully.”
