Gwangju Seo-gu Launches 'Citizen-Led Climate Action Network Contest Project'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Seo Dae-seok) announced on the 11th that it will promote the ‘Citizen-led Climate Action Network Contest Project’ to create a carbon-neutral city by 2045.
The purpose of this contest is to carry out greenhouse gas reduction activities in daily life through citizen-led climate crisis response organizations and to discover and spread excellent cases.
Applications for the contest will be accepted until the 24th, and not only environmental and civic groups in the district but also resident groups consisting of five or more people interested in climate action can apply.
The support includes education and promotional activities related to climate crisis response and green environment, such as ▲ campaigns to induce resource circulation and save energy ▲ green space village creation activities (flower path creation, planting air-purifying plants, picking up trash, etc.) ▲ eco-friendly product making education ▲ fine dust reduction and other climate crisis response activities, with the possibility of project changes according to the characteristics of each group.
The total project budget is 15 million KRW, selecting up to five groups and supporting each group with 3 to 5 million KRW.
