[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter] Kim So-young, former Supreme Court Justice, has been appointed as the chairperson of the Military Prosecutor Investigation Review Committee. The Military Prosecutor Investigation Review Committee was established to resolve public suspicions regarding the death of Air Force Sergeant Lee, who was a victim of sexual violence, and to ensure the reliability of the investigation. This is the first time such a committee has been set up within the military.

The Investigation Review Committee deliberates on whether the military prosecution should continue the investigation, whether to file charges or dismiss the case, whether to request or re-request an arrest warrant, and matters related to the appropriateness and legality of the investigation. The Ministry of National Defense plans to consider expanding the committee's role to cover investigations by military prosecutors across all branches of the armed forces in the future.
