"United States United Airlines Purchases 100 Boeing 737 Max Aircraft"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] United Airlines in the United States is reportedly negotiating to acquire 100 Boeing B737 Max aircraft, according to Bloomberg News.
On the 9th (local time), the news agency cited anonymous sources, stating that this extensive fleet overhaul is in preparation for the surge in air travel demand following the economic reopening after COVID-19.
United Airlines is considering a strategy to improve operational efficiency by transitioning its fleet to smaller, more fuel-efficient aircraft models.
Sources indicated that United Airlines' order quantity is being negotiated at a minimum of 100 aircraft, with the possibility of increasing to 150.
Previously, United Airlines also ordered 15 units of the supersonic aircraft "Overture," currently being developed by the U.S. aviation startup Boom Supersonic.
Specific contract terms, including aircraft purchase costs, have not been disclosed, but the economics are reported to be comparable to the B787 model.
