According to Mokpo Maritime Police Station (Chief Im Jae-su) on the 10th, a report was received on the 9th at around 7:41 PM that a drowning person, A (female in her 40s), requested rescue near the icebreaking tower at North Port 3rd pier in Mokpo-si, Jeollanam-do.
The Coast Guard dispatched the North Port police substation patrol team, coastal rescue boat, and West Sea Special Rescue Team's rescue boat to the scene, and at around 7:45 PM, following the patrol team's on-site confirmation, the West Sea Special Rescue Team's prompt action led to the safe rescue of drowning person A within 6 minutes of the initial report.
Drowning person A, who was urgently rescued with the help of the Coast Guard, was transported to a hospital in Mokpo by a 119 ambulance and is currently receiving treatment.

A Mokpo Coast Guard official stated, "Thanks to the quick report and prompt response, we were able to safely rescue the drowning person," and urged, "Special caution is needed at night or early morning when visibility is poor, especially near coastlines and pier walls where there is a risk of falling."
