The Maritime Police selected 10 coastal safety keepers through physical examinations and interviews last April and deployed them to five high-risk coastal accident areas within the jurisdiction. According to the coastal safety keeper training guidelines, job training is conducted at least once per quarter.
This job training program invited a professional external instructor (Park Jong-ho, President of the Jeonnam Western Branch of the Korea Maritime Safety Association) to provide training on the main duties of coastal safety keepers, initial response procedures in case of coastal accidents, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and other emergency treatment methods to strengthen the job capabilities of coastal safety keepers.
The training was conducted strictly following COVID-19 prevention guidelines such as temperature checks and social distancing.
