Police "Investigating and Prosecuting 17 Lawmakers Related to Real Estate... 6 Democratic Party Lawmakers Overlap"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] Among the 12 Democratic Party of Korea lawmakers suspected of illegal real estate transactions, it has been confirmed that 6 were already under investigation by the government joint special investigation headquarters (Special Investigation Headquarters, SIH) probing speculation allegations.
The National Police Agency's National Investigation Headquarters announced on the 8th, "There are a total of 17 lawmakers who were previously under investigation," adding, "We received 12 individuals transferred from the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, but 6 of them overlap with the existing list."
They further explained, "However, since we have received individual investigation results, it is necessary to verify whether the allegations involve the individuals themselves or their families," and stated, "We are conducting a strict investigation into the raised suspicions by analyzing related materials."

On the same day, the Democratic Party disclosed the list of 12 lawmakers involved in the allegations and decided to encourage all of them to voluntarily leave the party. The lawmakers urged to voluntarily resign by the Democratic Party are Kim Ju-young, Kim Hoe-jae, Moon Jin-seok, and Yoon Mi-hyang (all suspected of real estate name-trust allegations); Kim Han-jung, Seo Young-seok, and Lim Jong-sung (all suspected of using confidential information in the course of duty); and Yang Yi-won-young, Oh Young-hoon, Yoon Jae-gap, Kim Soo-heung, and Woo Sang-ho (all suspected of violating the Farmland Act).
