Suspicion of 'Proxy Surgery' by Nursing Assistant at a Spine Hospital in Gwangju... Police Conduct Search and Seizure
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] A complaint alleging 'proxy surgery' was carried out at a spine specialty hospital in Gwangju has been received, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
The Anti-Corruption and Economic Crime Investigation Unit of the Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency announced on the morning of the 8th that they are executing a search warrant at Hospital A in Seo-gu.
The police began the investigation after receiving a complaint from a whistleblower who alleged that around 2018, a non-medical personnel, a nursing assistant, performed surgery in place of a doctor at the hospital.
The complainant is reported to have submitted videos and documents to the police showing nursing assistants performing proxy surgeries.
Judging that the evidence is specific and highly credible, the police, considering the seriousness of the matter, immediately proceeded with the search and seizure.
Following a recent investigation into proxy surgery allegations at a spine hospital in Incheon, a similar incident occurring in Gwangju is expected to cause a significant stir.
