According to the county on the 7th, on the 4th, a business agreement ceremony for the exchange of specialties was held at Wando County Office attended by Shin Woo-cheol, Wando County Governor, and Seo Cheol-mo, Hwaseong Mayor.
Through the business agreement, both organizations agreed to cooperate to develop the safe food sector by establishing a virtuous consumption ecosystem that benefits both consumers and producers.
Since signing a sisterhood agreement in June last year, Wando-gun and Hwaseong City have engaged in practical exchange activities together between the public and private sectors, such as promoting seafood and exchanging whiteleg shrimp aquaculture technology.
Hwaseong City and the Gungpyeong Port Seafood Direct Sales Market Operating Committee opened the door to exchange last July through virtuous consumption that reduces distribution stages by direct transactions of Wando-gun’s representative seafood, abalone and flatfish.
Hwaseong City operates seven local food direct stores, which were visited by one million people in 2020, generating total sales of 23.1 billion KRW across the seven stores.
Until now, only safe agricultural and marine products produced in Hwaseong City and foods processed using these agricultural and marine products as raw materials could be sold at Hwaseong local food direct stores.
When certain agricultural and marine products are not produced or processed in Hwaseong City, or when supply is insufficient compared to demand, Hwaseong City revised related ordinances at the end of last year to ensure that local foods with guaranteed quality and safety are procured through agreements with sister cities.
Seafood from Wando will be introduced at six Hwaseong local food direct stores starting from the 7th, and a seafood expo hosted by Hwaseong City is planned to be held for four days from the 10th.
