Police Investigate Namyang Dairy Research Director Following Announcement of 'COVID-19 Suppression Effect'

[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] Park Jong-su, head of the Antiviral Immunity Research Institute at Namyang Dairy Products, who announced that Bulgari, a fermented milk product from Namyang Dairy Products, has an effect in suppressing COVID-19, has been investigated by the police.
According to the police on the 3rd, the Financial Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency summoned and questioned Director Park on the previous day (the 2nd). The police have completed investigations of most of the research institute staff, including Director Park. Former Namyang Dairy Products CEO Lee Kwang-seop is also expected to be summoned for questioning soon.
Director Park had announced at a symposium held last April that Bulgari has antiviral effects against COVID-19. The police are reportedly investigating Director Park regarding the circumstances of the announcement and whether there was a promotional purpose at the symposium.
