[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter]Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Won In-chul met with U.S. Indo-Pacific Command Commander John Aquilino to discuss the security situation on the Korean Peninsula and ways to enhance mutual cooperation. Commander Aquilino's visit to Korea is his first overseas trip since taking office on April 30.
During the meeting held on the 3rd at the Joint Chiefs of Staff headquarters, the Joint Chiefs stated, "Both governments agreed to support diplomatic efforts for the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and the establishment of lasting peace through military means."

Commander Aquilino said, "The ROK-U.S. alliance is the linchpin of peace and prosperity in the region, and we will closely cooperate to further strengthen and develop the alliance in a future-oriented manner."
