[Asia Economy Reporter Junhyung Lee] Lock&Lock announced on the 3rd that it has launched the industry's first eco bag made from recycled polypropylene (PP).
This eco bag launch is part of Lock&Lock's year-round resource circulation campaign, 'Love for Planet.' The campaign recycles plastic airtight containers collected from consumers. The name 'Come Bag' eco bag was given to signify that discarded plastic has returned anew.
The Come Bag eco bag is Lock&Lock's second eco bag following last year's bags made from marine plastics and plastic airtight containers. The company explained that it is meaningful in that it attempted to produce yarn and fabric using only PP, the main raw material of airtight containers, rather than recycled PET, which is commonly used as a material for upcycled clothing or bags, and made the bag.
The airtight containers collected by Lock&Lock over about three months since February underwent washing, crushing, and fabric production processes to be transformed into 1,500 eco bags. The amount of plastic used to make one eco bag is about 40g, which is similar to the amount of plastic used in a 100ml airtight container used for seasoning sauces or portioning. Both the bag body and handles are made of PP, so they can be recycled when separated and disposed of as plastic.

The eco bag measures 37cm in width and 32cm in height, making it a suitable size for carrying laptops or books. It is lightweight and resistant to external contamination. To raise public awareness about resource circulation, Lock&Lock included the story of the eco bag's creation on an external patch of the bag.
To commemorate the launch of the eco bag and Environment Day on the 5th, Lock&Lock will give an eco bag to customers who purchase over 70,000 won at its official online mall and Place LL stores. The event period lasts until the 14th of this month on the official mall and until the eco bags run out at Place LL.
