Park Beom-gye "Plan to Discuss Specific Personnel Matters with Prosecutor General Tomorrow"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] Park Beom-gye, Minister of Justice, stated that he plans to "discuss specific prosecutorial personnel matters during a meeting with Prosecutor General Kim Oh-soo."
After attending a meeting held at the Startup Support Center in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 2nd, Minister Park told reporters, "Today, I heard about the direction and criteria for personnel appointments, and I think tomorrow the Prosecutor General will specifically name the personnel candidates. That way, it will be a substantive opinion-gathering process."
He added, "For now, the consultation on prosecutorial personnel matters with Prosecutor General Kim is planned to be concluded with one formal meeting."
Regarding the prosecutorial organizational reform plan, which has sparked internal opposition within the prosecution, he anticipated that it will take time to reach a conclusion due to the procedures required for revising the enforcement decree.
Minister Park said, "As you know, since it is a presidential decree, various procedures must be followed, so it will not be announced rapidly."
Earlier, Prosecutor General Kim had a courtesy meeting with Minister Park in the morning. Kim revealed that during this meeting, he conveyed general opinions on the imminent prosecutorial personnel appointments as well as concerns from prosecution members regarding the organizational reform plan.
