Yangsan-si Expands Coverage and Funding for Mental Illness Treatment Support
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Yangsan City in Gyeongnam announced on the 2nd that it will expand its treatment cost support project to ensure stable treatment for mentally ill individuals in vulnerable groups.
The treatment cost support project is designed to encourage intensive treatment in the early stages of onset and to help mentally ill patients who are at risk of self-harm or harming others receive timely and appropriate treatment even after hospitalization and discharge.
Support for early-stage mental illness and outpatient treatment has been expanded from households earning 65% or less of the median income to those earning up to 80%, and in cases of emergency or administrative hospitalization, the full amount of the patient's treatment costs will be covered regardless of income level.
Additionally, the target diseases for early-stage support have been expanded from schizophrenia, schizotypal, and delusional disorders to include some mood (affective) disorders, and support will be provided up to an annual limit of 4.5 million KRW per person for those who have received emergency, administrative hospitalization, or outpatient treatment at mental health institutions.
For more detailed information, inquiries can be made to the Mental Health Team of the Health Promotion Division at the Yangsan City Public Health Center.
