[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Trainer Min Jang-gi (54) of Busan-Gyeongnam Racecourse has achieved a personal milestone of 500 career wins.
The racecourse announced on the 2nd that on May 30th, in the 4th race at Bukyeong (Mixed 4th Grade, 1200m), his affiliated racehorse "Winning Dancer (Gelding, 4 years old, Korea)" secured his 500th personal victory.
On that day, jockey Park Jae-i (25 years old) rode Winning Dancer, who started in 4th place out of 14 horses. Winning Dancer moved up to 3rd place after the first corner but remained in 3rd without advancing further.
Just when it seemed the race would finish as is, Winning Dancer suddenly surged forward with 100 meters left to the finish line, clinching 1st place in a thrilling come-from-behind victory.
Trainer Min Jang-gi is a veteran trainer who debuted in 2004 during the preparation period for the opening of Busan-Gyeongnam Racecourse.
He has participated in a total of 4,739 races, recording a win rate of 10.5% (place rate 21.3%, show rate 31.0%). He also produced "The Returned Pogyeongseon," which won the SBS Sports Sprint consecutively in 2017 and 2018, as well as the Owners’ Cup in 2018.
Trainer Min said, "Winning Dancer is a very capable horse, so I had high expectations. The jockey also executed the race well, and the strong finish at the end was impressive."
He added, "I will continue to move forward steadily, focusing only ahead. Once the vaccination is complete, I hope to meet racing fans with an even better face."
