'Controversy Over Female Police Entry' Male-Only Sleeping Rooms, Allegations of Same-Sex Prostitution Raised, Religious Group Files Complaint
[Asia Economy Reporters Donghoon Jeong, Jeongyun Lee] A company that became controversial after a female police officer entered a male-only sleeping room has filed a lawsuit against a religious group that alleged sadistic homosexual acts were taking place inside the establishment.
The company operating the sleeping room, Company A, filed a complaint with the Mapo Police Station in Seoul on the 31st of last month against the religious group ‘Rainbow Returns’ for obstruction of business and defamation. The company claims that the group held anti-homosexuality protests in front of the establishment, disrupting business and defaming the company by writing its name on banners.
A company representative stated, "We have continuously received reports from the religious group about prostitution and violations of quarantine rules, resulting in police or district office officials visiting 4 to 5 times a day," adding, "The allegations of illegal prostitution are not true." The controversy over the female police officer entering the sleeping room, which arose online, also appears to have emerged during the fact-checking process following the religious group’s reports. Regarding why the complaint was filed with the Mapo Police Station instead of the Seocho Police Station, where Company A is located, the representative said, "We trusted Mapo Police Station because they had previously investigated public hygiene issues with us."
Rainbow Returns has been holding protests in front of the establishment since the 28th of last month, claiming that the company engages in sadistic homosexual acts. The group uploads protest videos on their YouTube channel and recruits participants for the protests. Yeom Anseop, head of Rainbow Returns, said, "If Company A reconsiders its business and shows humility, there would be no need for protests," adding, "If their current attitude continues, we will keep protesting."

Recently, controversy arose online, especially on community forums, over claims that a female police officer entered a male-only sauna in Seoul. According to the online claims, when the female officer who responded to the company’s call entered deep inside the sleeping room, an employee protested, and the officer reportedly retorted, "Do I look like a woman to you as a police officer?" The police denied that this statement was made and stated that there was no problem as one male and one female police officer were dispatched following a prostitution report.
