During this session, 10 agenda items, including the 2020 fiscal year settlement bill, are scheduled to be referred to the relevant standing committees for review, and activities of the special committee for on-site verification will be carried out.
In particular, at the 1st plenary session on the day, Assemblyman Jang Jin-young asked six questions including 'the county's opinion on the suggestion to decide approval or disapproval after more public opinion gathering and deliberation prior to the establishment of the Hapcheon County Facilities Management Corporation' and 'the progress and future plans of the Hwanggang riverbank construction project.' Assemblywoman Shin Kyung-ja asked three questions including 'the consultation plan with the LNG Power Plant Complex Opposition Committee.'
In response, County Governor Moon said, "If we repeat the process of deliberation again after going through the promotional process in addition to the legal procedures for establishing the Facilities Management Corporation, it will be impossible to establish the corporation within 3 to 4 years, which will cause great disappointment to the residents who hope for the establishment of the corporation."
He continued, "The direction of the Hwanggang riverbank construction project has been partially changed. A top-tier domestic company is actively considering constructing a new town by partially channelizing the Hwanggang River. Although there are many pending issues, it will take some time, but we will persistently push forward."
Regarding opposition to LNG, he said, "We plan to form a communication consultative body to provide a forum to discuss alternatives in various fields to secure residents' acceptance. When the Southern Power Plant field office opens in June, we also plan to hold resident briefings by village and hope to reach a consensus among residents. We will do our best to reach an agreement with the opposition committee with an open mind."
Chairman Bae Jong-hee, in his opening remarks, said, "As we enter June, the month of national defense and veterans, I extend my condolences to the families of veterans," and added, "Since this regular meeting is a session to analyze the execution performance of the county budget and financial management results through the settlement review of the last fiscal year, please carefully examine whether our county's finances were executed according to their original intent and purpose."
