[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Mando announced on the 1st that it received the Presidential Citation and the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Citation at the '56th Invention Day' ceremony held on the 31st of last month.
The Invention Day ceremony, hosted by the Korean Intellectual Property Office and organized by the Korea Invention Promotion Association, is an event that selects outstanding inventors and rewards their contributions to national industrial development.
Won Jong-cheon, a senior researcher who received the Presidential Citation, was recognized for being the first in the world to apply the 'dual safety control technology' to the steer-by-wire (SbW) system, a freely mountable driving (steering) system.
SbW, which won the Innovation Award at CES2021, the world's largest home appliance and IT exhibition, is a technology that connects a car's chassis and steering wheel via electrical signals to improve space utilization.
Kim Jin-seok, a senior researcher who localized the advanced braking system 'Dynamic Electronic Brake' (IDB), which stops the car by operating the brake with a motor, received the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Citation. The IDB market is expanding recently due to the increasing demand for electric vehicles.
