Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Develops Korea's First Combined Fuel Cell Power Plant and Hydrogen Charging Station Model with Paju City
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the 28th at Paju City Hall to strengthen cooperation on a hydrogen and renewable energy convergence project for a hydrogen fuel cell and charging station complex model business with Paju City.
According to the agreement, the organizations will collaborate on ▲a hydrogen charging station convergence project linked with fuel cells ▲a rural win-win fuel cell power generation project ▲an energy self-sufficient industrial complex infrastructure construction project ▲a hydrogen and renewable energy convergence smart energy town creation project, among others.
In particular, through this agreement, KHNP and Paju City will develop a convergence business model that is the first in Korea to extract and produce hydrogen onsite based on hydrogen fuel cell power generation using city gas, and directly utilize it at hydrogen charging stations. City gas supply will also be extended to underserved areas of Paju City where city gas is not currently available. Additionally, plans include promoting an eco-friendly, low-carbon energy self-sufficient industrial complex infrastructure project linked with renewable energy and the tourism industry.
