Earn Points When Using Electric/Hydrogen Cars and Eco-Friendly Shopping Categories/Products
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] KB Kookmin Card announced on the 28th that it has launched the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) specialized product, 'KB Kookmin Green Wave 1.5℃ Card.'
This card is one of the products included in the 'ESG Financial Package' recently introduced by KB Financial Group. It offers point accumulation benefits for eco-friendly consumption aimed at reducing carbon emissions, such as charging electric and hydrogen vehicles and purchasing upcycled products. Additionally, points accumulated through card usage can be donated to eco-friendly public interest projects.
First, when using eco-friendly transportation such as electric and hydrogen vehicles, shared bicycles, and eco-friendly shopping sectors including eco-friendly food brands and upcycling products, points of up to 30,000 per month are accumulated based on the previous month's usage.
For eco-friendly transportation, 10% of the payment amount is accumulated as points when charging electric and hydrogen vehicles and using public transportation (bus, subway) and railways. For shared bicycles (Ddareungi, KakaoT Bike) and electric kickboards (Kickgoing, Ssingssing), 20% of the payment amount is accumulated as points.
In the eco-friendly shopping sector, 20% of the payment amount is accumulated as points when using eco-friendly food specialty brands (Orga Whole Foods, Biolga, Chorokmaeul), and 10% of the payment amount is accumulated as points when purchasing upcycling products (Pleats Mama, Patagonia) and companion plants (Tree Planet).
Points are accumulated based on the previous month's usage for both eco-friendly transportation and eco-friendly shopping sectors as follows: ▲7,000 points per month for usage of 400,000 KRW or more ▲10,000 points per month for 800,000 KRW or more ▲15,000 points per month for 1,200,000 KRW or more.
Also, customers who have a previous month’s usage of 400,000 KRW or more and have issued this card as a mobile-only card receive 1,000 points monthly. If they automatically pay 5,000 KRW or more per transaction for subscription services (Netflix, Wavve, Spotify, YouTube Premium), they receive 1,000 points monthly. When paying 20,000 KRW or more per transaction at 'Goodwill Store,' an eco-friendly social enterprise operated by the Milal Welfare Foundation, up to 2,000 points per month are accumulated.
If the previous month’s usage exceeds 1,200,000 KRW, 0.3% of the amount exceeding 1,200,000 KRW is accumulated as 'donation points' without any accumulation limit. When issuing the card and simultaneously subscribing to KB Kookmin Bank’s package products, 'KB Kookmin Green Wave Time Deposit' or 'KB Kookmin Green Wave 1.5℃ Public Trust,' 2,000 donation points are accumulated. The accumulated donation points are delivered annually in the customer's name to the Environmental Foundation and used for eco-friendly public interest projects addressing climate and environmental issues.
The annual fee for this card is 15,000 KRW, and if issued as a mobile-only card registered on a smartphone without a physical plastic card, the fee is 9,000 KRW.
