The forum, held under the theme "Business Paradigm Shift in the Era of ESG and Green Technology," brought together global corporate CEOs and experts including Choi Tae-won, Chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Jakob Poulsen, Chairman of CIP, to discuss related topics and explore green management strategies in the private sector.
At the event, Chairman Jakob Poulsen spoke as a presenter for Session 2, explaining CIP’s seven green energy funds worth approximately 20 trillion KRW and CIP’s green energy projects currently underway in 14 countries across four continents worldwide. He stated, "Through a strategic investment portfolio, CIP will achieve an annual reduction of about 11 million tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) and provide continuous power supply to approximately 6 million households."
He also introduced CIP’s global innovative projects as examples of green technology innovation in preparation for the energy transition era, including the world’s first artificial energy island, Europe’s largest energy conversion (Power to Ammonia) facility, and green hydrogen production facilities.
In particular, the energy island is expected to serve as an energy hub connecting surrounding areas and transmission networks through transmission and transformation facilities, energy storage, and hydrogen conversion facilities. It is being recognized as an innovative idea to solve the insufficient domestic power grid infrastructure and is attracting attention from the domestic industry.
Chairman Jakob Poulsen cited CIP’s La Gan project in Vietnam as an example and proposed ways to reduce energy transition costs and contribute to achieving carbon neutrality through cooperation with developing countries.
He emphasized "the importance of combining abundant renewable energy resources and green technology in developing countries, where about 63% of global carbon emissions occur," and added, "We are also promoting expanded cooperation with several other developing countries following Vietnam to achieve global carbon neutrality in the future."
