"'1 Million Won Per Person' Fourth Support Fund for Special Employment and Freelancers Paid to 715,000 People Completed"
Support of up to 3 million KRW for 1.792 million people in four phases
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The government announced on the 27th that it has completed support for about 720,000 people eligible for the 4th Emergency Employment Stability Support Fund, which provides up to 1 million KRW per person to special-type workers (teuksoohyeong geunrosongsaja, teukgo) and freelancers whose income has decreased due to COVID-19.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor stated on the 26th that it has uniformly paid up to 1 million KRW to 43,000 new applicants who met the eligibility criteria. Support has been completed for a total of 715,000 people, including 672,000 who had already received the fund.
The COVID-19 Emergency Employment Stability Support Fund was urgently established in June last year to support teukgo and freelancers facing livelihood difficulties due to COVID-19, and has been implemented four times up to this month.
Through the four rounds of support, a total of 1,792,000 people have received 3.4 trillion KRW so far. Those who received support from the 1st Emergency Employment Stability Support Fund can receive up to 3 million KRW in total.
In the first round, small business owners and unpaid leave workers were also included as eligible recipients, but from the 2nd project onward, small business owners receive support through the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and unpaid leave workers receive support through the relaxed Employment Retention Subsidy or Emergency Welfare Support System.
