[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Namdong-gu, Incheon, will operate a second vaccination center starting from the 1st of next month in preparation for a large-scale vaccination campaign in the second half of the year to end COVID-19.
The district announced on the 27th that following the installation of the first vaccination center last month in an unused building within Gil Hospital, they have established the second vaccination center at the Namdong Multipurpose Indoor Gymnasium located in Susan-dong, Namdong-gu.
The second vaccination center will operate Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a total of 38 staff members including 4 doctors, 8 nurses, and administrative personnel working full-time.
Like the first vaccination center, the second center has introduced vaccine-dedicated ultra-low temperature freezers and uninterruptible power supplies, as well as a sterile workbench (clean bench) to prevent vaccine contamination.
Accordingly, starting from the 1st of next month, the first vaccination center will serve the Guwol and Ganseok areas, while the second vaccination center will cover the Mansu, Nonhyeon, and Seochang areas. When making vaccination reservations, each neighborhood will be assigned to a center based on their respective regions.
Both centers will administer the Pfizer vaccine, with priority given to seniors aged 75 and older, and essential social workers such as police and firefighters aged between 18 and 30 who are currently receiving vaccinations.
The current average daily number of vaccinations at the first center is 900, and as of the 26th, approximately 9,300 people have received their first and second doses through the first vaccination center.
The district expects that with the operation of the second vaccination center, which can handle up to 750 vaccinations per day, the maximum daily vaccination capacity will increase to 1,650, enabling large-scale vaccinations.
