[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Miryang City in Gyeongnam announced on the 27th that the COVID-19 vaccination is progressing smoothly.
Since the opening of the vaccination center at Miryang Culture and Sports Center on April 15, vaccinations for 600 to 800 elderly people per day have been carried out depending on the vaccine supply situation. For elderly people with mobility difficulties, shuttle buses are operated, and cooperation with each administrative welfare center ensures that no one misses their vaccination through individual contact.
The total number of priority vaccination targets in Miryang City for the first and second quarters is 18,486, of which 13,316 (72.1%) have received the first dose, and 7,331 (39.7%) have completed the second dose. At the current pace, all elderly people aged 75 and over will complete their first dose by June 11, and the second dose will be completed by July 2.
From today, vaccinations for citizens aged 65 to 74 will be conducted through 33 designated medical institutions in the area, and from June 7, vaccinations for those aged 60 to 64 will begin.
Currently, vaccinations are being administered to elderly people aged 75 and over, as well as residents and workers in elderly care facilities. After July, vaccinations will also be available for citizens aged 18 to 59. All vaccines used are Pfizer.
