Hanwha Group Establishes ESG Committee... Chairman Cho Hyun-il Appointed
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] Hanwha Group announced on the 27th that it has newly established the Hanwha Group ESG Committee to support and advise its affiliates on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management and to carry out group-level ESG activities.
The Hanwha Group ESG Committee assists in formulating ESG strategic tasks for each business sector. It also conducts training for information sharing and supports the ESG management activities of each affiliate. Considering ESG relevance and operational efficiency, it is placed under the existing Compliance Committee, which is a compliance management consultative body. The chairman was appointed as President Cho Hyun-il of Hanwha Compliance.
The Hanwha Group ESG Committee is composed of four divisions: Environment, Social Responsibility (Fairness and Welfare), Governance, and External Communication. It holds regular meetings once every quarter and conducts practical activities for affiliate support and consultation through extraordinary meetings.

The Hanwha ESG Committee held a seminar yesterday attended by about 60 executives and team leaders responsible for 15 affiliates. Using a video conferencing system, external environmental experts were invited to discuss carbon neutrality policies and domestic and international trends related to ESG. Going forward, the committee plans to select topics covering the entire ESG spectrum and invite related experts as lecturers.
