"Drank with Another Woman" Woman Assaulting Boyfriend Receives Probation... Accomplice Sentenced to Prison
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] A woman in her 50s who collectively assaulted her boyfriend for drinking with another woman was sentenced to a suspended prison term in the first trial. Acquaintances who participated in the crime together received actual prison sentences.
According to the court on the 27th, the 12th Criminal Division of the Seoul Eastern District Court (Chief Judge Park Sang-gu) sentenced A (50), who was indicted for causing serious injury, to 1 year and 6 months in prison with a 3-year suspension. B (42) and C (47, female), who participated in the assault, were sentenced to 4 years and 2 years and 6 months in prison, respectively.
In June of last year, A witnessed her boyfriend drinking with another woman at a pub in Songpa-gu, Seoul, and asked B and C to "come along." They had an argument with the victim at the scene, and as A repeatedly hit the victim's face, it escalated into a group physical fight.
B and C dragged the victim outside the pub and assaulted him multiple times with their hands and feet, knocking him to the ground and striking his head forcefully. The victim was diagnosed with traumatic subdural hemorrhage and fell into an unconscious state.
The court stated, "The victim suffered serious physical injuries from the beating to the extent that normal life is impossible," and added, "The guilt is heavy as the victim and his family have also endured great pain and shock."
