A man in his 50s arrested for over 3,200 false 112 emergency calls in 5 months
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters (Jeju) Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] A man in his 50s was arrested for repeatedly making abusive and offensive calls to 112 without any special crime-related reports.
The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Police Agency announced on the 27th that Mr. A was arrested on charges of obstruction of business, among others, for making over 3,200 abusive and false reports over five months.
Mr. A is accused of making 3,235 calls to 112 from January 6th until recently, during which he used abusive language and verbal threats.
From January 6th to the 4th of last month, he made 1,434 calls without any special incidents and was confirmed to have verbally abused the operators 94 times with phrases such as "If you arrest me, it's a one-rank promotion," and "Shut up."
Despite multiple legal warnings and requests to stop, he continued to make 1,801 false reports.
