Gangseo-gu Provides 500,000 Won Support to Small Business Owners Closing Due to Gathering Bans and Business Restrictions
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) will provide 500,000 KRW in cash support to small business owners who have closed their businesses after being restricted or banned from operating due to COVID-19 spread prevention measures.
This support is designed to comfort small business owners who have closed their businesses and were previously overlooked despite suffering damage from the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, and to encourage their re-challenge.
The eligible recipients are small business owners who registered their businesses in Gangseo-gu and closed their businesses between March 22, 2020, and the announcement date (May 18, 2021) due to gathering bans or business restrictions. However, businesses must have operated for at least 90 days before closure, and those who closed after the announcement date are excluded from support.
The application period is until August 15, and applications can be submitted through the ‘Gangseo-gu Office website - Open Plaza - Online Application’ menu.
Required documents for application include a certificate of business closure, a small business confirmation document (such as a health insurance qualification certificate or monthly health insurance workplace subscriber payment details), and sales verification documents (value-added tax standard certificate for the past year), all of which must be scanned and attached. However, if online application is difficult, in-person applications can be made at the relevant department by industry from July 5 to August 13.
The support fund will be paid within two weeks from the application date to small business owners who pass the eligibility review.
A district official said, “We hope this disaster relief fund will provide some comfort and help to small business owners who have closed due to recent business difficulties,” and added, “We will continue to prepare various support measures so that residents struggling with the prolonged COVID-19 situation can gain strength.”
Meanwhile, the district secured a budget of 1.2 billion KRW for this support, which is enough to assist about 2,400 closed small businesses in the area.
