Jarvis Reports 3.2 Billion KRW Consolidated Sales in Q1... "Expecting Operating Profit Turnaround in Second Half"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] X-ray inspection equipment specialist Jarvis announced on the 27th that its consolidated sales for the first quarter of this year reached 3.2 billion KRW. The operating loss was approximately 1.1 billion KRW.
Jarvis's sales were affected by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic this year due to limited overseas sales activities. The company focused on research and development (R&D) to lead the rapidly growing battery and semiconductor markets, spearheaded by electric vehicles, with its outstanding inspection equipment technology. In addition, operating losses occurred as the company increased research investment costs along with recruiting specialized personnel.
Jarvis's order-based sales performance by product reached about 3.6 billion KRW, a 23.4% increase compared to the same period last year. Among the 'XSCAN' inspection equipment segment, orders for electric vehicle (EV) battery products rose by 245% compared to last year. The ‘XSCAN’ inspection equipment is expected to continue its upward trend starting with this increase in order performance. Currently, Jarvis is expanding its supply chain and responding to customer demands through demonstrations and product certifications with numerous global battery manufacturers.
The food foreign substance inspection equipment ‘FSCAN’ secured major Japanese clients, significantly increasing overseas export volume. ‘FSCAN’ is currently experiencing increased sales in Japan through strategic partnerships with large Japanese corporations. In this way, Jarvis plans to achieve a performance turnaround in the second half of the year through aggressive sales activities.
A Jarvis representative said, “From the second half of the year, operating profits are expected to recover along with order contracts for currently operating equipment,” adding, “We will lead company growth through full-scale order activities.”
Jarvis is a specialized manufacturer of X-ray inspection equipment that performs internal inspections of electronic components and detects metallic and non-metallic foreign substances in food. It gained recognition for its technology by developing the world’s first in-line X-ray inspection equipment that inspects internal defects in core semiconductor processes. This semiconductor inspection equipment has secured world-class inspection speed and precise inspection capabilities.
