Constitutional Court Dismisses Lee Gyu-won's Constitutional Complaint on Kim Hak-ui's Illegal Departure
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] Prosecutor Lee Gyuwon, who was indicted on suspicion of involvement in the illegal travel ban of former Deputy Minister of Justice Kim Hak-ui, had his constitutional petition challenging the prosecution by the prosecution dismissed.
On the 26th, the Constitutional Court announced that it decided not to hear Prosecutor Lee's constitutional petition case on the merits. Dismissal means a decision to end the trial procedure because the lawsuit or claim is inappropriate or does not meet the requirements.
Earlier, on the 19th of last month, Prosecutor Lee filed a constitutional petition, claiming that the prosecution's search and seizure and indictment against him were unjust. This began when the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office indicted Prosecutor Lee last month on charges of falsifying and using false official documents. The Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) conditionally transferred the case, stating that it would investigate and decide on prosecution directly, but the prosecution pushed forward with the indictment.
