"Under the Theme of 'Great Transformation,' Held at Seoul DDP from November 1 to 19
Strengthening Global Exchange of Startups and Innovative Ventures"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] An Seongwoo, CEO of Zigbang, will serve as the organizing committee chairman of the global startup festival COMEUP.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 26th that the 'COMEUP 2021' event will be held from November 17 to 19 at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul.
COMEUP is a global exchange event for startups and innovative ventures that introduces Korea's startup ecosystem to the world and provides opportunities for K-startups to expand overseas. It was first held in 2019.
This year's COMEUP 2021 will be held under the theme "Meet the Future ? Transformation."
COMEUP 2021 consists of an academic conference reviewing the startup ecosystem, the selection of outstanding startups supported for investment and overseas expansion called 'COMEUP Stars,' and startup networking events.
To ensure the successful hosting of COMEUP 2021, now in its third year, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups formed an organizing committee centered on private experts from four sectors comprising the domestic startup ecosystem.
The COMEUP 2021 organizing committee, composed of 21 members, is co-chaired by An Seongwoo, CEO of Zigbang, and Cha Jeonghoon, Director of the Startup Venture Innovation Office at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. Additionally, 19 private experts were appointed as committee members and will be active in three subcommittees.
An Seongwoo, appointed as the organizing committee chairman, founded 'Channel Breeze' in 2010 and participated in the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' 'Youth Startup Academy' program in 2011. He later launched Korea's first real estate information platform service, 'Zigbang,' in 2012, achieving great success.
Co-organizing committee chairman An Seongwoo said, "COMEUP has established itself as a representative innovative startup event in Korea over the past two years. This year's event will discover the next-generation unicorns leading the post-COVID-19 era domestically and internationally and will become a platform to lead innovation in the global ecosystem."
