This Listening Olle focused on Q&A regarding Jeonnam education policies from Gwangyang parents and checking current educational issues in Gwangyang.
The Gwangyang Parents Association is a voluntarily formed organization to establish a systematic communication channel, such as proposing Jeonnam education policies through building a network of school parent associations.
The attending parents asked questions about measures to resolve learning gaps caused by COVID-19, the Jeonnam Office of Education’s direction for promoting Green Smart Future Schools and future-type integrated operation schools, the high school credit system, and the vision and promotion direction of science education in Jeonnam.
Chairperson Park Ja-young said, “It was very rewarding to directly hear questions about Jeonnam education policies and have sincere conversations about educational issues in Gwangyang,” adding, “We will actively participate as key stakeholders in education by cooperating with each school’s parent association in the future.”
Superintendent Jang Seok-woong said, “I hope the Gwangyang Parents Association shares various cases by school, proposes ideas through joint educational policy thinking, and participates with spontaneity and initiative,” and added, “The Office of Education aims to serve parents as partners in Jeonnam education and work hand in hand with them to create the future together.”
