Naju City, First in Province to Support Delivery Fees for 'Namdo Jangteo'
[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 25th that it is the first local government in the province to support 1,000 KRW per parcel for each delivery ordered and shipped through Namdo Jangteo starting this month, providing the support to local farms and agricultural food companies.
The delivery fee support is based on the "Ordinance on the Promotion of Using Local Agricultural Products and the Activation of Direct Transactions of Agricultural Products," and plans to support up to 1 million KRW per selected company through pre-registration last month, until the budget is exhausted.
New companies can apply for support by submitting an application form to the address's eup, myeon, or dong upon joining.
Currently, the number of farms and companies from Naju registered on Namdo Jangteo totals 126, achieving sales of approximately 2.247 billion KRW last year (an average of 180 million KRW per month).
In the same year, the number of delivery parcels reached about 41,000 (an average of 3,400 per month).
Looking at sales by major product categories (%), agricultural products accounted for 1.093 billion KRW (48%), livestock products 940 million KRW (42%), processed foods 195 million KRW (9%), and others 19 million KRW (1%).
Namdo Jangteo hosts about 1,300 agricultural, livestock, and fishery product companies in the province, achieving a record sales amount of 32.6 billion KRW this year, about five times higher than the previous year.
Additionally, through its reorganization as "Namdo Jangteo that sells anything," it plans to expand the scope of registered products to include industrial goods, travel products, and more.

Mayor Kang In-gyu said, "In line with the increase in online consumption culture, I hope this will help local farms and companies secure online sales channels and improve price competitiveness even a little," adding, "We will actively seek various agricultural product marketing measures to alleviate the management burden of farms experiencing offline sales difficulties due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic."
