Yeonggwang-gun to Conduct 'Rapid Antigen Diagnostic Tests' Until the 31st
[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jeonseong] Jeollanam-do Yeonggwang-gun (Governor Kim Junsung) announced on the 25th that it will conduct 'Rapid Antigen Diagnostic Tests' for preemptive response to COVID-19 targeting all employees of 11 eup/myeon offices and about 500 village chiefs by the 31st.
In response to the recent increase in COVID-19 cluster infections in the Jeonnam region and confirmed cases among public officials in neighboring areas, which led to temporary closures of myeon offices and self-quarantine of employees, the county is making every effort to block local spread by conducting rapid antigen diagnostic tests.
This rapid antigen diagnostic test will be conducted by a mobile specimen collection team formed by the Infectious Disease Response Team of the Public Health Center, 8 health branch offices, and 11 health clinics, who will visit each eup/myeon office.
The rapid antigen diagnostic test detects infection by dropping a specimen collected from the nasal cavity onto a kit to check for positive or negative results. Since the infection status can be confirmed within 15 to 20 minutes, it is faster compared to PCR tests which take 6 to 24 hours.
It is also suitable for screening tests for early detection of COVID-19, and if a positive result is found in the rapid antigen test, a PCR test will be conducted again.
