Joo Ho-young: "Can't Leave the Company to a Deputy Just Because the Idea Is Good"
People Power Party Leadership Candidate Relay Interview ⑧ Rep. Ju Ho-young
"Experience and expertise are often overlooked, but understanding them is essential to accomplish anything."
Dismisses Polls Showing 'Young Blood Surge'
"Won't take the risk of appointing a leader who hasn't properly experienced a presidential election"
[Asia Economy Reporters Naju-seok and Lee Hyun-joo] "An idea proposed by a deputy may be better than that of the CEO, but that doesn't mean you can entrust the company to the deputy."
On the 24th, Joo Ho-young, former floor leader who challenged the People Power Party leadership race, dismissed the so-called ‘young blood surge’ phenomenon, where former Supreme Council member Lee Jun-seok and first-term lawmaker Kim Woong are making waves in opinion polls, in an interview with Asia Economy. He said, "You cannot run an organization with just one or two novel ideas," adding, "We tend to easily disregard experience and expertise, but there are principles and rules that apply universally in any field. Understanding these is essential to accomplish anything." He further stated, "The parts where experience may be considered ‘old’ should be supplemented by accepting ideas from new blood."
Joo predicted that the young blood surge would change once the actual election takes place, not just in opinion polls. While they receive high support in polls conducted among the general public, the party leadership election, which is decided by 70% party members and 30% opinion polls, may not necessarily reflect the same. Joo said, "The collective intelligence of party members will properly judge who becoming party leader is advantageous for regime creation," and expressed confidence, saying, "We will not take the risk of entrusting the party leadership to someone who has never properly experienced a presidential election or handled many elections."
Regarding first-term lawmakers’ attempts to challenge for party leadership, Joo said, "I think it is desirable to set high goals," but criticized, "It is not desirable if it causes organizational confusion or leads to breaking another system."

Since Joo stepped down as acting party leader, discussions on merging with the People’s Party have effectively stalled. On this, he said, "I regret that we could not tie up the loose ends," and added, "If I become party leader, I will first push for the merger and then bring in those who are considered potential opposition presidential candidates."
