Gyeongnam Province Holds Appointment Ceremony for 'Gyeongnam 1st Street Policy Refinement'
Rough and Incomplete Proposals Reborn as Polished Suggestions Like Passing Through 'Dadeumijil' Process

On the 24th, Gyeongnam Province held the launch ceremony and committee appointment ceremony for the 'Gyeongnam 1st Street Policy Refiner' to assist in the operation of Gyeongnam 1st Street, an online policy participation platform for residents.
The term "Policy Refiner" carries the meaning of reshaping residents' proposals into well-structured suggestions, just as ironing smooths out wrinkles in fabric.
If residents want to improve the proposals they directly posted on 'Gyeongnam 1st Street,' they can request help on the 'Gyeongnam 1st Street Policy Refiner Request Board,' and the final refined proposal will be delivered to the proposer for re-registration.
The Policy Refiner consists of a total of 25 experts from various fields, including professors, national quality masters, public officials, government innovation national forum operating committee members, and policy contest winners.
In addition to policy guidance, the Policy Refiner also plays a role in supporting activities such as devising ways to revitalize Gyeongnam 1st Street, analyzing and investigating Gyeongnam 1st Street, and improving evaluation methods.
Yoon Nansil, head of the Social Innovation Promotion Team of Gyeongnam Province, said in her greeting, "We felt the need to strengthen the deliberation process in the operation of Gyeongnam 1st Street, which led to the creation of this Policy Refiner system," adding, "We expect more residents to participate and the proposal adoption rate to increase through the Policy Refiner."
One committee member who will be active as a Policy Refiner expressed their commitment, saying, "If I can make even a small contribution to the residents of Gyeongnam and the Gyeongnam provincial government by fully utilizing the experience and skills I have accumulated in my professional field, it will be rewarding."
Additionally, on the same day, the province reorganized the operation system of Gyeongnam 1st Street to increase the proposal adoption rate and expand resident participation.
The criteria for adopting topics for pros and cons debates were relaxed from requiring over 100 people to requiring support from more than 50 people.

The standards for submitting agenda items to the Resident Proposal Cooperation Committee were also lowered from requiring participation of over 300 people in pros and cons debates with a majority in favor to requiring participation of over 150 people with a majority in favor.
