View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Jeong Yongsang, honorary professor of the Department of Law at Dongguk University and standing representative of the support group for former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, 'People's Union for Fairness and Common Sense Restoration,' said on the 25th, "During his tenure as Prosecutor General, Yoon demonstrated the independence of the prosecution, the resolve to investigate the living powers, and by showing the people, the sovereign citizens, that everyone is equal before the law, I believe he has met the necessary and sufficient conditions to be a leader."
Professor Jeong appeared on YTN Radio's 'Hwang Boseon's Start of a New Morning' on the same day and defended former Prosecutor General Yoon, saying, "Having worked for a long time in institutions enforcing criminal justice, there may be conflicting opinions, but he conducted investigations with integrity and firm conviction as a righteous prosecution. Moreover, he is a prosecutor who practically demonstrated that all people are equal before the law. I have heard many such stories."
Regarding the distancing from the support group, stating that former Prosecutor General Yoon has no direct connection, he said, "He has not declared any political intentions, let alone a presidential bid, so it does not seem appropriate to say there is an official connection. I think taking such a stance now is rather the correct interpretation or judgment."
However, Professor Jeong, who communicates with former Prosecutor General Yoon, said, "We also express our opinions on the general public's aspirations and the direction we should move forward."
Prefacing his personal opinion, Professor Jeong said, "It is difficult to say when, where, and how (former Prosecutor General Yoon) will make a political appearance, but considering the election of the People Power Party leader, I expect he might make a political declaration around that time. I also anticipate there is a roadmap regarding the timing and method of choosing between the third zone and joining the People Power Party."

Meanwhile, regarding criticism of former Prosecutor General Yoon from the ruling party, he rebutted, saying, "The wording itself is quite uncomfortable. It is absurd for the ruling party leader who produced and executed legislation and policies that dismantled the prosecution by stripping the Prosecutor General's investigative authority, disciplining the Prosecutor General, and driving out a specific individual through all sorts of abnormal methods under the guise of reform, to criticize former Prosecutor General Yoon in such a manner."
