Busan Gijang-gun to Gradually Reopen Public Facilities Except Senior Centers Starting from the 25th
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Public facilities in Gijang-gun, Busan, will be gradually opened.
With Busan City's social distancing eased to level 1.5 starting from the 24th, Gijang-gun announced that all public facilities except senior centers will be opened from the 25th.
The opening of senior centers will be decided later depending on the COVID-19 situation.
From the 25th, the following facilities will be opened: ▲Cultural Etiquette School, ▲Youth Training Center, ▲Youth Counseling and Welfare Center, ▲Career Education Support Center, ▲Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, ▲Senior Welfare Center, ▲Senior Citizens' Hall, ▲Healthy Family and Multicultural Family Support Center.
From the 26th, the following will be opened: ▲Public Libraries, ▲Gijang Life Sports Center (Gym), ▲National Sports Center (Gym).
From June 1st, the following will be opened: ▲Gijang Life Sports Center (Swimming Pool), ▲National Sports Center (Swimming Pool), ▲Gijang Cultural Center, ▲Gijang Hyanggyo, ▲Gijang Janggwanchung; and from June 13th, performances at Andersen Theater will resume.
Gijang-gun will operate welfare centers, youth facilities, and cultural facilities with a capacity limit of 50% in accordance with government quarantine guidelines.
Additionally, Gijang Life Sports Center and National Sports Center will limit the number of users to within 40% of the usual capacity according to their own plans.
Public libraries will limit the number of people in the reference and reading rooms to within 50% capacity.
However, the Gijang Digital Library located on the 7th floor of Gijang-gun Office is excluded from this opening due to strengthened quarantine measures in public offices.
Small libraries will operate according to their own plans.
Furthermore, Gijang-gun plans to operate while complying with the government's basic quarantine rules such as wearing masks, keeping visitor logs, checking body temperature, regular disinfection, and ventilation.
Resident communal facilities (excluding senior centers) within apartment complexes in Gijang-gun have been opened and operated since May 24th.

Oh Gyu-seok, Gijang-gun Governor, said, "We decided to gradually open public facilities in the area by reflecting Busan City's eased quarantine measures and the voices of residents on site," adding, "We will focus administrative efforts to ensure that public facilities operate while strictly adhering to quarantine rules without letting our guard down to prevent the resurgence of local infections due to the easing of social distancing."
