Seongbuk-gu Creates Play Spaces to Guarantee Children's Right to Play
Children's Play Facilities Transformed with Modern Upgrades, Contributing to the Expansion of Children's Right to Play... Secured 550 Million Won in Local Funds for Play Space Development Project
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) will begin construction this month on the "2021 Project to Create Play Spaces Guaranteeing Children's Right to Play."
The district plans to transform the generally outdated children's playground environments into more engaging and child-friendly play spaces.
The children's parks to be redeveloped through this project include three locations: Jongam Children's Park (104-6 Jongam-dong), Dolmoe Children's Park, and Ilsin Children's Park. These spaces have high demand but users have complained about inconvenience due to aging facilities and worn-out ground surfaces, requesting maintenance.
To guarantee children's right to play, Seongbuk-gu has secured 550 million KRW in district funds for the play space creation project. After completing preliminary procedures such as detailed design services, the construction company selection has been finalized, and the project is being actively pushed forward with the goal of completing construction in the first half of the year.
A district official stated, "We will install various play facilities that children enjoy, such as trampolines, hammocks, and net play structures, instead of simple playgrounds centered on combined play equipment, creating safer and more fun play spaces."
