Woori Technology Discusses Overseas Nuclear Power Plant Expansion with Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Wooree Tech announced on the 24th that it discussed ways to strengthen mutual cooperation with Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (hereinafter KHNP) in overseas nuclear power plant expansion and offshore wind power projects.
Recently, KHNP President Jeong Jae-hoon and other executives visited Wooree Tech headquarters to explore management issues and ways to enhance cooperation between the two companies. They also exchanged various opinions on cooperation in overseas nuclear power plant expansion and offshore wind power projects that KHNP is promoting.
This visit was conducted as part of KHNP's "Visiting CEO Cooperation Small and Medium Enterprise Meeting" excellent partner company visit program.
Wooree Tech is a control and instrumentation specialized company that developed MMIS, one of the three core nuclear power technologies, with 100% proprietary technology, making it the only company in Korea and the fourth in the world to do so. It supplies main control equipment to Shin-Hanul Units 1 and 2 and Shin-Kori Units 5 and 6.
A Wooree Tech official said, "We conveyed the company's position on domestic nuclear power plant issues such as the operating license for Shin-Hanul Units 1 and 2 and early delivery of Shin-Kori Units 5 and 6 to KHNP," adding, "We exchanged mutual opinions on the rationalization of supply for the monitoring alarm control system (MMIS) and various nuclear power plant spare parts supplied by the company."
He continued, "This meeting served as an opportunity to seek constructive cooperation plans for the company's ongoing projects such as domestic and overseas nuclear power plants and offshore wind power," adding, "It will also be a positive signal for nuclear-related companies facing difficulties due to nuclear phase-out policies to anticipate future business revitalization."
In addition to the nuclear power business, Wooree Tech was selected last year as a supplier in the transportation, installation, and control system sectors for the ‘Donghae 1 Floating Offshore Wind Power Complex Project’ promoted by Ulsan Metropolitan City and signed an agreement.
The Donghae 1 Floating Offshore Wind Power project is a large-scale floating offshore wind power plant project with a capacity of 6GW, to be constructed along the 50km coastline of Ulsan Metropolitan City by 2030 with a total project cost of 36 trillion KRW. KHNP is promoting the development of the power complex with domestic and international wind power companies.
